“’Tis the wind and nothing more.”
In Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven, this phrase is spoken in a moment of uneasy reassurance, as the narrator attempts to convince himself that the strange sound at the window is nothing more than the wind. Yet beneath those words lies a deeper tension the quiet awareness that something darker may already be present.
This piece captures that fragile moment of denial, when the mind reaches for reason while something far more inevitable waits beyond the threshold.
At the center of the ring lies a faceted smoky quartz stone, revealing a miniature hand painted skull created by artist Admin Torres. The image rests beneath the crystal like a small relic, suspended in time.
The surrounding metalwork was handcrafted in oxidized sterling silver, forming a protective frame around the miniature scene. The aged surface and architectural silhouette evoke the solemn atmosphere of Poe’s literary world, where memory, loss, and mortality linger just beneath the surface.
